My client is a fantastic independent provider of therapeutic residential care to children and young people in Northampton. They are looking for a qualified and experienced Children’s Home Manager to join their team providing excellent care to children and young people with a range of emotional, behavioural and social needs. The home is rated ‘good’ with Ofsted, very settled and the residents have been in placement for a number of years.
Duties for this post will include:
- Day to day management of the home
- Providing direct care and support of the children and young people which is based on therapeutic thinking, and attachment aware approaches
- Leading and managing a staff team who are motivated, dedicated and professional
- Managing budgets
- Assisting with recruitment and maintaining staff files and records
- Providing high quality supervision and some training to the team
To be successful in the role of Children’s Home Manager you must be able to demonstrate:
- A suitable qualification e.g. Level 5 Diploma, DipSw (or equivalent)
- A minimum of five years’ experience in work with children and young people with EBD and/or Learning Disabilities and/or Mental Health needs
- At least two years’ managerial experience leading and managing a team in a senior capacity within the residential sector preferably in a children’s home
- Experience of using attachment aware and therapeutic approaches to understanding and meeting ‘looked after’ children and young people’s needs
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership and administrative skills
- A Full driving licence
- The ability to work some unsociable hours e.g. evenings and occasional weekend hours and be able to carry out managerial on call duties on a rotational basis
